Not many real ancient monuments have remained in Minsk, much of old Minsk was razed to the ground during World War II. The city Minsk of today is the city of wide streets, modern and old architectural ensembles, fountains, shady parks and green boulevards.
Among the sights that you will see are:
•Independence Square with the House of Government (1929–1933)
•the “Red” Krasny Roman Catholic Church
•Victory Square with its 38 metres grey obelisk and eternal flame commemorating the heroes of World War II
•Yanka Kupala Park with a wonderful fountain
•Troitskoye Predmestye (Trinity Suburb) – restored buildings of the 19th cent.
•«Upper town» (now the Liberty Square region) with two main churches of two main confessions in Belarus — the Orthodox Saint Spirit Cathedral and the Catholic Saint Virgin Mary Cathedral
